What happens on the night with a staffed 360 video booth?

A staffed V360 Video Booth is run for you from arrival through to pack-down. You do not host the queue, start the camera or show people how to save a clip. About a fortnight before the event the team contacts the venue and settles the space. On the day the operator or operators arrive one hour before the booked start, set up discreetly, run the booked time, break down in around 45 minutes to an hour and email a web gallery plus a shared Google Drive folder about 12 hours after the booking ends.

About a fortnight before

About a fortnight before the event the team contacts the venue to settle on a space allocated for the booth. You do not have to chase the venue. The booth needs a solid even floor and access to a power plug or other power source. It also needs about half a metre around the booth so the camera arm can rotate at a safe distance from guests who are not using the booth. Wifi is not required.

V360 brings its own prop table with a standard set of high-quality props plus themed props for the occasion. Music, overlays and custom props are in personalising your 360 booth videos. The working area is cordoned with stanchions so people stay at a safe distance while the arm turns. The small platform is 1.5 m by 1.5 m and the large platform is 2.5 m by 2.5 m. Footprints are covered in how much space a 360 video booth needs.

One hour before the start

The operator or operators arrive at the venue one hour before the booked start time. They set the booth up discreetly in the space already agreed. A small booth is a two-person booth with one operator who does everything. It holds up to 2 people at a time. A large booth holds up to 4 people at a time and the booking has two operators because there are more people to manage. The difference is set out in small or large 360 video booth.

That hour is for the build. The platform goes onto the solid even floor, the camera arm is set so it can rotate clear of anyone outside the cordon and the stanchions go out. The prop table is placed with the booth. Power comes from a plug or another power source. Wifi is not required.

What the operator does with each guest

When the booked time starts, the booth is hosted. Guests are guided onto the platform and positioned so the group fits the shot. The operator explains how it works and how to get the best videos, then positions the camera for every person. Before the take, the operator makes sure everyone is well framed and well lit using the ring lights and the room lighting.

The operator hypes guests up and encourages them to dance, look for the camera and pose so the videos come out well. The platform does not spin. The camera then rotates and circles the guests on the platform and records a 26-second clip framed on the top half of the body. It plays at normal speed, then in slow motion and then in reverse, in a boomerang style. No guest phone is used to record. What guests do on the platform is in how a 360 video booth works for guests. When the rotation stops, the operator helps them down from the platform. You do not have to direct this.

The video sharing station

Guests are shown their video at the video sharing station straight after the take. The operator helps them download it to their phones. On the night the routes are:

  • AirDrop
  • a QR code
  • SMS
  • email

People can leave with their own clip. The sharing station does not need venue wifi. Wedding timing against the photographer and the speeches is in when to book a 360 video booth at a wedding and on the wedding hire page.

Break down

The booth runs for the booked time and then stops. After the end time the team takes around 45 minutes to an hour to break down and leave, taking the platform, the arm, the lights, the stanchions and the prop table with them.

The gallery and Google Drive

About 12 hours after the booking ends the team emails the client a web gallery link. The gallery has all the videos from the event. You can watch everyone's videos, which is a fun extra on top of the clips people already downloaded. You can download videos individually. You can share the link with anyone so they can view them.

The email also includes a link to a shared Google Drive folder with all the videos uploaded, so you can download them in bulk. Use the gallery to watch, grab one video or pass the link on. Use the Drive folder for the full set. Neither link replaces the copy a guest already saved at the sharing station. Both links stay available for six months and no USB is needed. Delivery is covered in how do we get our 360 booth videos.
